Project name: “Fighting criminality and corruption”

Beneficiary: Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice (Public Ministry)

Partners: National Anticorruption Directorate, Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism

The overall goal of the project is to strengthen the capacity of the Public Ministry in fighting criminality (including corruption and organized crime from all areas), which will contribute to the strengthening of the rule of law and the capacity of the judiciary as a whole.

Specific objective: To strengthen the capacity of the Public Ministry in fighting criminality and corruption

Results: The analysis of the necessary resources for the proper conduct of financial investigations

Over 40 training seminars for prosecutors, judicial police officers and specialists and among the covered topics will be organized in fields such as: fighting organized crime and trafficking of migrants, fighting fraud in public procurement, fighting petty corruption and environmental crime, the fight against tax evasion and economic-financial crimes. Also, the prosecutors and judicial police officers will benefit from professional training in the field of hearing techniques and teamwork.

As a result, a best practice guide on the topic of white-collar crimes and a guideline on communications and hearing techniques will be developed.

Best practice guides will be elaborated on the topics addressed at the seminars; these guides will be subsequently distributed to the prosecutor`s office units in the territory.

The technical equipment needed in order to equip the prosecutor`s office units with the new infrastructure will be purchased.

Target group: Approximately 900 prosecutors from the Public Ministry, D.N.A, D.I.I.C.O.T. and from the prosecutor’s offices attached to the courts of appeal in the country, specialists who work with prosecutors, police officers and other personnel involved in the judicial system.

Total budget: 4,250,000 euros, the amount representing 100% grant related to the project
